Christian Debt Consolidation Programs .com was
founded by a born-again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ; someone
who has "been there" with the debt situation. At one time,
I had over $50,000 in debt (personal; not business debt), in addition
to my mortgage. Because I owned my own business, I had a lot of expenses
and didn't keep very good track of them. One month, a bill came in
for over $3000 which I wasn't expecting, and which had to be paid within
30 days. I literally went into a panic and my blood pressure skyrocketed.
I had no idea how I was going to pay that bill on time, and I realized
I was in bad shape financially. I cried out to God and asked Him to
help me get through this, and I told myself I was not going to get
into this situation again. About the same time, I was reading in Malachi
in the Old Testament, where God was speaking to the Israelites about
their lack of tithing:
"'Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But
you ask, 'How do we rob you?' In
tithes and offerings. You
are under a curse—the whole nation of you— because
you are robbing me. Bring the whole
tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.
Test me in this,' says the LORD Almighty, 'and see if I will not
throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that you will not have room enough for it.'"
-- Malachi 3:8-10 (NIV)
I clearly felt God convicting me that I was not being faithful in
bringing the whole tithe into the storehouse. I was not tithing consistently
because of my irregular cash flow, and I was not trusting Him to
provide. At that time, I took God up on
His challenge to test Him and I committed to tithing consistently.
That was years ago, and I never had another problem paying the bills!
I have always been able to pay my bills, and within
just a few years I paid off that $50,000 in debt and had
over $10,000 in savings.
God clearly blessed my business with a surplus which enabled me to
make large payments to knock that debt down.
Please note that this is not the prosperity mumbo-jumbo
that is being preached in many churches, especially on television.
This is about following solid, biblical principles for managing
your finances. For more about the false teaching of prosperity,
read #6 on the Words
of Caution page.
I'm not going to tell you that debt consolidation is wrong or bad.
It can be the first step toward getting your finances under control.
However, many Christians consolidate their debt, only to find themselves
in trouble with even more debt a few years later. Please read my
Things
to Consider for some tips and advice about debt and debt consolidation.
Also, please be aware that there are many "Christian" debt consolidation
companies which are, in fact, secular companies trying to exploit
naive Christians. Please see my Words
of Caution for more information about this.
Finally, please read the page titled, God's
Word on Debt. I promise
I won't preach to you, but I believe it's important that Christians
understand what God has to say about debt. Did you know that over
3000 verses in the Bible refer to money? That's a lot! God did
not leave us without guidance in this critical area, and we should
listen to Him because He knows best.
I pray that this website is helpful to you as you grapple with your
debt situation. In fact, if you'll contact
me, I'd consider it an
honor to pray for you and your situation. May God bless you richly
as you seek Him and obey Him. |
